![]() Map edges act as infinite water sources and sinks. Start by making an area for the sea, with land height set to zero, that reaches the edge of the map. Perhaps the easiest way to start is with a perfectly flat river that starts in a lake and empties into the sea. You can make rivers either by raising the land on either side, or by lowering the land in the middle. Rivers are basically just low points in the terrain. Think about the overall topographical design. ![]() What sort of map are you starting with? Is it mountainous or flat? Will the river be broad and flat, or fast and narrow? ![]() ![]() How you make rivers depends on how you make the rest of your landscape, and what kind of river you want. I know of no definitive tricks to make tuning river flow easier, it is still trial and error for me. Water flow can get a bit chaotic if you aren't careful, creating insane waves. ![]()
